The finishing touches are being added to the Action Sports arena in the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Midlands before the state-of-art sports centre opens its doors.
The arena boasts a uniquely designed roof; four multi-purpose courts to accommodate action soccer, action cricket, action netball and action hockey; a futuristic 800 square meter soccer court that is covered in tiger turf; a kiddies play area equipped with everything from playstations to jungle gyms and a fully licensed bar and an eatery.
According to Jarryd Naidoo, marketing and brand manager for Action Sports KZN Midlands, the idea was born after the directors identified a lack of recreational facilities around the city and decided it was time to invest not only in the local community but the community at large.
“The positives of the arena being situated in the city are that it creates employment for the local surrounding community and it contributes in a major way to Pietermaritzburg tourism”, Nadioo Said.
The Action Sports KZN Midlands will also play host to the top teams from eight other provinces during the month of June for the National IPT Cricket Tournament.
The arena, situated as 67 Haworth Road, Mkondeni, is also an ideal venue for corporate events, team building exercises and social networking.
